Happy Friday! Here are five things that should be on your radar:

  1. This week, Governor Hobbs announced a new Semiconductor Registered Apprenticeship Program to enhance the state’s premier semiconductor workforce. The Governor also announced the launch of the Maricopa Future48 Workforce Accelerator and a $4 million investment by the ACA to support the apprenticeship program
  2. The ACA announced 15 finalists for the 2023 Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC), Arizona’s premier startup pitch competition designed to advance innovation and technology commercialization. The finalists advance to the final round of the competition and up to 10 companies will be selected as 2023 AIC awardees
  3. WeCom Fiber broke ground on a $54 million broadband expansion that will connect 32,500 rural homes and businesses in Mohave and La Paz Counties, and the Hualapai Reservation to high-speed, reliable internet. The broadband expansion, facilitated by the State of Arizona, will help connect residents to good-paying jobs, quality education opportunities, and essential healthcare services
  4. Total Quality Logistics (TQL), a leading global third-party logistics firm, is expanding its presence in Arizona and establishing a new office in Tucson. TQL selected Tucson because it is a major transportation hub, has a deep talent pool, and is a vibrant and growing city
  5. This week, the Arizona Technology Council and the ACA celebrated the 20th Annual Governor’s Celebration of Innovation awards. The event recognized individuals and companies statewide advancing the state’s innovation ecosystem
